204 - Vacation, Saturday, Day 1, May 27th

The day started off with us taking the boys over to my parents house. My dad came over with his truck in which we took apart the crib to load. We also threw on the truck bikes, trikes, and scooters.

Now that the kids are dropped off, we come back home to load up our car, then gas-up and add air to the tires. It is about noon when we leave.

In the car, we listened to music and podcasts; we conversed; we read books: and Verna watched a dvd for MOPS. We stopped in Hays, Kansas for a mid-afternoon dinner at the Golden Corral for buffet food. (a decision I always regret later.)

I don't remember exactly the time, but I think we arrived at the Moose Lodge (Doc's place) around the 10 o'clock hour. After unpacking and getting a bit of the munchies, we picked up some McDonald's to take back to the Moose. It was our one and only stop at McDonald's on the trip.

You guys made good time.
It's true, I always regret "buffet food." For a quick stop, better the Quizno's or Taco John's in Colby. There is a Starbuck's there (for a frappucino buzz) and a Baskin Robbins as well.

Yeah, a buffet can be something to regret a little later. It's enjoyable when you are there, though. :)

Out of curiosity, how many podcasts did you listen to? Kansas is a long state.

We listened to podcast all week long on some of our daytrips.

On our way out to Colorado, we listened to the Official Lost Podcast (which was really good, as the writers recapped the finale and talked about what to expect next season), a couple of Relevant Podcasts (really good and funny), NPR story of the day, and NPR all songs considered. On the way home, we listened to a Paste Magazine Podcast and a lot of music.

I never thought that I would read that Forrest went to Golden Corral for a vacation meal. : )

Am I the most misunderstood person???

Yeah Golden, I have no problem eating fast food when I am in a hurry or on the road. We are talking Hays Kansas here. I thought the Golden Corral would be a good place to get a salad and eat somewhat healthy. Unfortunately, I also ate a bunch of junk food that wasn't that great. Which is why I always regret buffets. Although, casinos have some good buffets.
