The Broker by John GrishamI started this book before my trip to Italy and finished it on a Eurostar train from Milan to Padova. I read this book for a couple of reasons - (1) Grisham books are a fun read and (2) the setting for this story takes place in the same region of Italy that I was travelling.
The main character is pardoned by the President and promptly sent to Italy to disappear. He has to assimilate into the culture and the quicker he does it the safer he is.
It was pretty neat to be reading about his escape to Milan on a Eurostar at the same time that I am on a Eurostar headed to Milan.
U2 By U2Fascinating! I started off reading bits and pieces, but then committed myself to reading it all. It is a very large book and not easy to negotiate in bed. At first glance, it is easy to dismiss as a coffee table book with pretty pictures. The book contains the story of U2 from the beginning all the way through How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb told by Adam, Larry, Edge, and Bono.
They were telling in-depth stories that I had not heard before and it was quite a trip to read about the era of each album and listen to those albums within that context.
How Should We Then Live? by Francis SchaefferI am currently reading this book in parts and pieces. This is one of those books to better my knowledge on topics of interest both professionally and personally. The chapters I have read so far have been an art history class through the different era's given in a context of studying the current worldviews of thought and culture in relation to a christian worldview.

My sister likes reading Schaeffer, but I haven't had the privilege of reading any of his books yet. You'll have to let me know what his conclusion is.
I've been asking for that U2 book for X-mas, V-day, father's day, and now my birthday. Maybe I should just go out and buy it myself.

Which Steve Segal movie? We all know what happened to him in Executive Decision, so BB may want to remain careful.
Dar turned me on to reading a book that is set in the place we will travel to - sort of giving a theme. I also like Grisham...maybe I need to plan a trip to Italy.
Technically, Executive Decision is not a Segal movie, right? It's a Kurt Russel movie.

I have a problem with themes. When I'm travelling to a place I carry a book about the place with me even if it's fiction. U2 would work about anywhere except maybe well...
